Financial decision-making is a crucial indicator of women's autonomy, and their empowerment is an important factor affecting the socio-economic development of a country (Chowdhury, 2023). Despite efforts by public authorities to empower women, nearly half of married women in Congo (38.7%) do not make decisions alone regarding the use of their income. This study aims to contribute to a better understanding of the explanatory factors of decision-making concerning the use of money earned by women living in union in the Republic of Congo. Achieving this objective required the use of data from the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) conducted in Congo in 2012, which is the most recent and the only database providing information on the studied topic, unlike the Multiple Indicator Cluster Surveys (MICS). The statistical analyses carried out were, on the one hand, descriptive bivariate and multivariate to profile women using Multiple Correspondence Analysis (MCA), and explanatory to identify and prioritize the explanatory factors of decision-making concerning the use of money earned by married women in Congo through an unordered multinomial regression.
