Identification of the Safe Abortion Offer in Colombia at the Municipal Level Authors: Rocío Murad, Katherine Cadena and Víctor Morales Context: In Colombia, abortion is decriminalized up to the 24th week, it can be accessed on grounds and there is regulation for its comprehensive care. However, barriers persist in guaranteeing this right. Objective: to contribute to the analysis of barriers to access to safe abortion through the construction of a Municipal Index of Safe Abortion Supply. Methodology: the structure, process, and results dimensions were considered. 27 indicators were identified in the period 2017-2022. The indicator for each dimension was estimated by Principal Components and transformed to a scale between 0 and 100. The index was obtained by calculating the simple average of the three dimensions. Results: the country obtained 34.2 points; only 12 capitals reached more than 60 points; 559 municipalities scored below the national average and of these 241, with less capacity to manage resources and high rurality, have greater difficulty in guaranteeing the right to abortion. Conclusions: the supply of safe abortion is insufficient in municipalities with fewer financial resources. Strengthening the health infrastructure at the first level of health care is urgent.
