An Interactive Museum of Demography

Tim Carlton, Commonwealth Grants Commission

Virtually every city has a science museum, where children and adults can interact with physical models to learn the principles of science, especially physics. This popular way of communicating science can extent to demography. In this poster session, attendees can see the plans for a proposed Museum of Australian Demography. They can also interact with prototypes of interactive digital and physical models of all aspects of population dynamics. Attendees can also download the software that enables them to readily produce their own 3D models of the evolving population pyramids in their own countries, using their own data or official datasets, or 3D maps of the population density of their cities.
