Tanzania has relatively higher rate of prevalence of violence against women. Wife beating is common in Tanzania. Half of the population believes that a man can be justified in beating his wife, even if, there were several to sensitization to reduce violence. In this context, the current article will try to find whether the perceptions of wife beating in Tanzania is significantly associated towards violence against women in Tanzania or not. It was found that the wife beating is still high in Tanzania. The highest percentage of women who agreed with wife beating were aged between 20-24 years (78.8 per cent), with currently married (74.7%), with primary education (78%) , in rural areas (75.2. It was observed that 79.4 per cent of women who ever experienced violence agreed with one or more reasons for wife beating justified compared to 66.5 per cent among women who never experienced violence. Wife beating is one of the significant covariates of violence in Tanzania (aPR =1.19, P<.001). To manage the violence against women in Tanzania, it is needed to strengthen the community awareness-raising campaigns to provide women and girls with the necessary knowledge which will help them change their attitudes towards wife-beating.
