In this paper, we exploit the staggered implementation of the RGGVY to estimate its effects on domestic violence. Using administrative data and other data sources, including SHRUG and NFHS-4 (2015-16), we employ a quasi-experimental design using the 300-person cutoff; a village was eligible for the program if the population was greater than 300. To understand the underlying mechanisms, we explore changes in women’s labor force participation and marital matching.
