This study will describe fertility intentions among young Australian adults and the association with factors such as demographic characteristics, economic conditions, career aspirations and relationship dynamics. Data on fertility intentions was collected for the first time in the LSAC in 2023-24 from young people aged 19-23 years. Questions were asked about their hope to have children, at what age and number of children. Descriptive statistics will be presented, along with results from further analysis to explore how fertility intentions vary between educational qualification, employment, career aspiration, socio-economic position and relationship dynamics. These findings aim to provide a nuanced understanding of the current fertility intentions of young Australians in their early child-bearing years.
